چکیده

A 30−year−old man was referred for an en− doscopic removal of proximally migrated pancreatic stent. At our institution, the in− itial attempt by endoscopic removal using a snare, basket and balloon extraction failed. The distal tip of the stent was im− pacted at the side wall of the pancreatic duct. A rat−tooth forceps was also tried and was able to access the tip of the stent. Unfortunately, it could not be opened fully due to the small size of the pancreat− ic duct. During subsequent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, a Caesar grasping tripod (Wilson−Cook, Winston−Salem, North Carolina) was used. Within the first attempt, the tripod was able to grasp the tip of the stent firm− ly enough to allow stent removal (Figure 1 and 2).

Balloon extraction for the endoscopic removal of proximally migrated pancreatic stent.

A 33-year-oldman underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for removal of stones in the pancreatic duct. The stones were removed successfully and a plastic pancreatic duct stent (7Fr, 10cm; Wilson-Cook, WinstonSalem, North Carolina, USA) was placed in the pancreatic duct to prevent post-ERCP pancreatitis and obstruction. The patient was admitted 6 months later complaining ...

Endoscopic removal of a proximally migrated pancreatic stent.

A 64-year-old woman with choledocholithiasis underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with stone extraction and biliary and pancreatic duct (PD) stent placement. She subsequently presented with postprandial abdominal distension of a few weeks’ duration. The patient had undergone a laparoscopic cholecystectomy following the ERCP; however, a repeat ERCP nearly 2 months afte...

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided pancreaticogastrostomy for symptomatic pancreatic duct obstruction caused by migrated pancreatic stent

Endoscopic pancreatic stenting has been widely used in various pancreatic conditions. With the increasing use of pancreatic stents, many complications have been recognized. Especially, proximal stent migration presents a serious condition because of subsequent pancreatic duct obstruction, impaired drainage, ductal dilation, and pancreatic pain. Although endoscopic retrieval is the preferred tre...

Endoscopic Retrieval Technique of Proximally Migrated Pancreatic Stents: A Retrospective Study in a Tertiary Centre

Background. There were scarce trials concerning the treatments and outcomes of proximal pancreatic stent migration. Herein, we did a retrospective study to discuss this problem from an endoscopist's point of view. Patients and Methods. From January 2009 to June 2014, patients with proximally migrated pancreatic duct stents were identified. Their clinical information was viewed. Retrieval techni...

Endoscopic removal of a proximally migrated pancreatic stent using a gooseneck snare.

The effectiveness of pancreatic stents for prevention of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis is widely recognized [1]. However, proximal migration of a pancreatic stent is occasionally encountered, potentially necessitating surgical intervention [2,3]. A gooseneck snare (Amplatz GooseNeck Microsnare Kit; Covidien, Irvine, California, USA), which was originall...
